Our climate targets

Euro Pool Group and it divisions EPS, LPR and Stack&Track committed to SBTi in March 2024. Since then, our targets have been validated by SBTi and we’re working hard to reach our climate goals for 2030.

Euro Pool Group’s emissions in scopes 1, 2 and 3

This diagram shows our new, ambitious reduction targets for 2030. These near-term targets are in line with the Paris Agreement and comprise scopes 1, 2 and 3:

  • Scope 1 & 2: Targets need to be aligned with a 1,5°C pathway. For EPG, this means an absolute GHG reduction of 50.2% by 2030 (compared to 2020).
  • Scope 3: Euro Pool Group commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and upstream transportation and distribution 25% by 2030 (compared to 2020). The target boundary includes land-related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks.

The GHG Protocol

Euro Pool Group follows the emissions reporting guidelines of The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol. Our reporting model is designed in accordance with the protocol and shows the impact on each of the categories EPG has (in kton CO2e). The GHG protocol is a comprehensive global standardised framework for measuring and managing greenhouse gas emissions from private and public sector operations, value chains, and mitigation actions. It provides guidelines for companies and organizations to quantify and report their greenhouse gas emissions, ensuring transparency and consistency.

The protocol categorises emissions into three scopes:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources.
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling.
  • Scope 3: All other indirect emissions that occur in a company’s value chain.

By adhering to the GHG Protocol, we can better understand our emissions, identify reduction opportunities, and enhance our sustainability reporting. Our targets are in line with the protocols reporting standard and compared to the yearly actuals we measure.
